Violin Lessons: Class 9 - Simple Song Sequence

To practice your string crossings, we are now going to use what we have learned in the past few violin lessons in a simple Song Sequence. It consist of the following few notes:

F# D A F# E

Throughout this whole song, remember to just use the middle part of the bow and lock your arms into an almost 90% angle.

For the fingering, use the image above for guidance. To play the F# note, place your index finger (1st finger) on the E string. For the D note, place your ring finger (3rd finger) on the A string. For the A note, shift your 3rd finger to the E string. After that, press your first finger on the E string again to produce the F# note and finally, glide the bow over the open E string.

To play the first note, glide the bow downwards. For the second note, upwards and so on. Start slowly. Only glide the bow on the string when your finger is securely in place on the fingerboard. Practice this song sequence. The key is to play the whole song smoothly without accidentally playing 2 notes/strings at the same time.
